FROM THE DIRECTOR – APRIL 2021

I hope this message finds you all well. I am continuously optimistic that the scourge of COVID is getting better by the month. It has affected so many aspects of our lives, including events at the museum. I have not received a final decision on this year’s Memorial Day Ceremony. When I have that information, I will pass it along.

We were very busy during the spring break week, and it seems that visitorship is returning to normal. We are still restricting large groups at this time due to social distancing protocols. I hope all COVID requirements are a relic of the past by the end of summer, but time will tell. I am looking forward to the day that we can host tour groups again and restarting programs such as Lunch and Learn.

Months after the late October ice storm took out a light pole, it has been replaced. Although the broken pole remains in place, the yellow tape has been removed, and vehicles and artillery pieces in that area are once again accessible. The Oklahoma Military Department is working on logistics to get the broken pole removed, but, for the most part, the issue has been resolved.

As always, thank you for your time and dedication—Denise.
